The Occupational Safety and Health (Amendment) Act 2022 and the Occupational Safety and Health (Construction Work) (Design and Management) Regulations 2024 (CDM 2024) provide an important legislative foundation for advancing the strategic objectives of OSHMP30 (2026–2030). Together, these frameworks support Malaysia’s continued transition from a traditional compliance-driven approach towards a more proactive, prevention-focused model that places greater emphasis on leadership, accountability, communication and organisational safety culture. They also reinforce the principle that occupational safety and health is a shared responsibility, requiring effective risk management and employer/employee safety leadership across workplaces, regardless of industry or business activity.

Despite these legislative and regulatory developments, year-on-year increases in workplace injury statistics continue to demonstrate the need for stronger organisational action. Legislation, policies and procedures alone cannot prevent workplace incidents. Sustainable improvements require leaders to translate regulatory requirements into everyday practice through visible leadership, meaningful workforce engagement, effective communication and consistent accountability at all levels of the organisation.

This practical one-day workshop, supported by real-world case studies, interactive exercises, audio clips and workplace-based scenarios, is designed to help participants turn safety communication into effective safety leadership. The programme focuses on how leaders and managers can engage the workforce, influence behaviours, address unsafe practices and strengthen accountability through effective safety conversations and interventions.
